Building microservices and platforms for a FinTech SaaS product within a fast-moving, efficient team of engineers and product managers.
  • Built and implemented backend API services on a brand new platform, which landed a contract with one of our largest clients to date, resulting in an XX% increase in yearly revenue.
  • Developing gRPC methods for fetching and transforming complex data using Go, protobuf, and PostgreSQL.
  • Architecting microservice data models and database structure.
  • Utilizing our internal API to build modern customer and admin UIs using TypeScript and Next.js.

  • Moved a legacy internal operation to an outside vendor, ensuring all knowledge and quality points were documented and transferred, resulting in approximately $130k yearly savings.
  • Introduced modern documentation processes on the shopfloor, resulting in efficiency gains and higher quality builds.
  • Planned and executed long-term operational excellence projects involving multiple high-level stakeholders.
  • Automated the production of complex and dynamic assembly documentation packages using Visual Basic for Applications.

Mechanical Engineer @ Oxford Instruments X-ray Technology

  • Communicated product requirements to an outside vendor for a critical assembly process, and implemented design feedback which resulted in an XX% higher yield process.

An introduction to computer science from Harvard University.

Topics include abstraction, algorithms, data structures, encapsulation, resource management, security, software engineering, and web programming.

Languages include C, Python, and SQL plus HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

The Complete Web Developer in 2019: Zero to Mastery

2019 – 2020

A Udemy course that covers beginner and intermediate topics of web development.

Focuses on React on the frontend and NodeJS / Express on the backend, plus PostgreSQL database layers.

This was a very good jumping off point for my software engineering education.

Bristol Tech Fair

Community Project

Worked closely with a team of developers to build a free tech resource platform for kids.

  • Led weekly meetups to organize workload and review code changes and sticking points. Onboarded new devs to the project.
  • Used React and Styled Components to convert a modern design into testable components in Storybook.
  • Developed the Express backend to serve MongoDB data to the frontend.
  • Wrote unit tests to ensure code quality and functionality throughout development.

Involved in the Slack community and in-person meetups pre-COVID.
